We developed an extension of the dpa (Digital Planning Assistant) application to provide the most straightforward way to compare reality on the production line with planning data. The most user-friendly way to do this is through the use of augmented reality (AR). This allows virtual objects from the planning to be displayed in the actual environment of the production line. The application displays the planned positions of shelves and their contents, planned workstations and their utilization, and interactively provides additional information to displayed objects. An important feature is the comparison of the current status of the planning status with reality to verify the accuracy of the data.
SABO Mobile IT developed the AR LiveScan application for iOS using the ARKit and RealityKit libraries. Data from dpa is accessed via the HTTPS REST API. Either QR codes with coordinates in production line space (containing the so-called anchor image) or the connection with dpa are used to precisely locate the device. The height of the device from the ground is automatically determined using the ARKit function by scanning the QR code or by manually entering a value by the user. Virtual objects are continuously loaded according to the position of the device, so the application always achieves optimal performance.
Audi dpa LiveScan
received several awards:
With LiveScan, users can quickly and easily compare the current status of the production line with data from dpa using augmented reality. The planner can check the validity of the data in the system or simulate the future layout of the production line to make planning more accurate and efficient.
LiveScan is a real innovation for Industry 4.0 in the area of production planning with a possible overlap with other areas.
